Thanks For Being A Part of The Potters Cast

A1

I am really excited to have you as a guest on the show. This really means a lot to me. Here are a couple of things that will be really helpful for our time together. (Please read all the info below, including the photos portion)

RESCHEDULING

Let me say that I know life can get out of hand pretty quickly, so feel free to change our appointment. Just go to the confirmation email that your should be in your inbox and click on the “Cancel/Reschedule” link. That will help you make all the changes necessary. One thought- Please try to only do this a week before our meeting.

SOCIAL MEDIA

Social Media: Would you take a moment and follow me on Instagram (@pdblais). Also, would you please “Like” The Potters Cast Facebook page? When your episode releases I will send you an email letting you know that it’s live. When that happens please post a note on your Facebook page and Instagram letting your friends know about it. I’ll provide you with the links.

THE INTERVIEW

Please be on time. I try to make a big effort to call you on Skype right on time. Because most of the time I am “batching” my interviews, I have them scheduled back to back with an allotment of 1 hour and 15 minutes. Usually we are done within 50 minutes, but sometimes we go over. So you can see why be available on time is really critical.

I don’t send out any kind of pre-questions for review. I really like the process of discovery. We are just going to have a great time talking like a couple of friends.

Please have a book recommendation ready. Only one book is needed. It can be about ceramics, or fiction, or business, or anything that you think others would find helpful or would enjoy.

Please wear earbuds/headphones. This is really important to help eliminate feedback.

Sound quality is really important. If you don’t mind, try to use an external microphone like this Samsung Mic. Don’t freak out if you can’t get a mic, but it would really help make you sound way better.

FINAL THINGS

In your signup form through ScheduleOnce I asked for you to leave your Skype ID. If you didn’t leave that, please, please, please send that to me immediately. It is a real nightmare trying to find it 5 minutes before an interview. I had also asked for your bio. Every once in a while guests opt to say they’ll send it to me later. Many times they forget. Please take a moment and send it now. It is best if you write in the third person (no “I” or “me”).

Lastly, those images! Here is what I am looking for:

For getting them to me, please just email them to me (address below). Do not use anything like Dropbox, Google Drive, or other services like that. Those tend to have expiration dates and extra steps that can be difficult to work through. So email is always the best way. You may need to send three emails to get them all to me, but that almost always works with the least amount of complications.

In regards to content:

Please have the photos set to 2000 pixals max for either Horizonal or Vertical.

1 shot of you in action. Definitely not a “business head shot”. Stylized pose or you at work with clay or you with a piece of work. Peruse the website and you’ll get an idea of what I am talking about.

10 to 12 shots of your work. Please don’t include any pieces that have cuss words on them or nudity. I really try to make the site and show as family friendly as possible. Please don’t send any pictures with “watermarks” like your name or studio name embedded on the photo. Lastly, I like stand alone shots of your work- what I mean is that sometimes people will “tile” a shot that includes multiple photos that are fused into one. Please avoid the “tiled” pictures.

That’s about it. If you have any questions, please feel free to write me: Paul@ThePottersCast.com
