Drawing and Painting on Clay with Helen Beard

I’m going to let you in to a BIG SECRET during my forthcoming workshop, Drawing and Painting on Clay. I will share with you step by step, my unique method of illustrating on to clay. I don’t use ceramic crayons or underglaze pens. I follow a technique which I researched and developed during my student days at Edinburgh College of Art. It’s a technique which allows me to draw with the freedom of a child, making marks where the qulaity of the line is as important as the drawing, scribing lines on to the clay without even seeing what I’m drawing. I’m so excited for this Potter’s Class and can’t wait to see how it might influence your own work

You will learn:

  • How to do drawings on bisque ware
  • How to paint your pieces
  • What materials to use and how to use them
  • What tools work best for putting an image on a piece
  • The process of making stain impregnated paper (similar to a carbon paper)
  • You will learn how to plot our an illustration on to clay
  • You will learn the process of adding color, layer by layer on your work
  • And so much more….
