Most of us have heard that amazing story of Vince Lombardi when he held up a football before his team and said the most obvious thing a professional team could have heard: Gentlemaen, this is a football!” His point was that it all starts with the basics. Jeff goes to the basics with how to handbuild a cylinder- the foundation of mug! Not only the mug, but so many other forms in ceramics as well. In this class Jeff shows us how versatile a well-built cylinder can be for mugs and planters using handbuilding methods of construction. Then Jeff will bring us through a study of the ever so important handle where he will demonstrate a few of his personal tried and true handles, as well as the handles of a few of his favorite potters. During this workshop Jeff will…
- talk about rolling out clay
- explain how to use a shipping tube for support
- demonstrate how to skillfully join the seam of a cup.
- give some best practices for adding a bottom
- help us have a better understanding of “balancing” a cup with a handle
- show us how to make consistent and repeatable forms
- and much more!
Once you join the class you will be given
- a class PDF with step by step instructions
- a link to an option kit for purchase (not required, but helpful)
- a list of class supplies
All for $45
