One of the most iconic forms in the ceramic world is the teapot. Truth be told though, is that it is not a simple form to make. It has a number of parts that require perfect placement and balance and proportions… When it comes down to it, the teapot can be an intimidating pot to make. In this class Jeremy Randall brings his years of experience and teaches us the inside scoop on how to make a handmade teapot. Jeremy will demonstrate the construction of a slab built teapot using paper template patterns inspired by antique tin-forming. Discussion of lidding solutions and spout options will be covered, and a quick discussion of terra sigilatta surface options demonstrated as well.
In this class you will learn:
- the proper size for a teapot
- how to bring a sense of proportion
- handle placement
- spout sizing
- Plus you get over 2 hours of video!
