Traditional cyanotype is a photographic process that involves laying an object over a chemically treated paper and exposing it to UV light resulting in lovely Prussian Blue monochromatic prints.. Also known as “sun prints”. Cyanotype is one of the earliest photographic processes, invented in 1842 by Sir John Herschel, a brilliant astronomer and scientist.
In this class we will explore a technique that takes inspiration from the traditional cyanotype process but uses non-toxic ceramic materials making it safe to use on functional pottery.
Participants will learn how to:
- Create a “sun print” that can be used over and over
- How to add the look of cyanotype prints to their clay creations
- Make prints will be safe to fire in the kiln
- How to glaze and use as functional pottery
Also you will get a PDF with:
- Supply list for making screens
- A list of items to print
- A list of items to “paint” on to the work
The class is $45
