Do you have specific dates on the calendar that you are going to be doing shop drops? If so, how far ahead are you making for a specific date on the calendar?

I try to position them around the holidays. For instance the next one is going to be for Valentine’s day and as I am wrapping up Valentine’s day it’s already on my brain to do spring or Easter.

How many pieces do you typical like to have for a shop drop?

Goodness, it depends on what is going on in my life and how quickly I can get stuff together.  For instance, my smallest shop drop was the shark week shop drop with maybe about a dozen pieces. But the largest one I had, that was the summer shop drop I think, I had over fifty.

How far in advance do you start letting them know the drop is coming?

About a week. I just let people know yesterday that I am doing a shop drop in the beginning of February.

How long does it take you to prepare for the drop in terms of photography, writing a description, and that information?

I have noticed that the whole cycle takes me about a week. I need to give myself three or four days prior to the newsletter e-blast because I like to photograph stuff in natural light in my backyard and sometimes the weather does not cooperate.

Can you load the items and then schedule an exact time or minute when the actual item goes live?

Yes. Yes you can. They are in draft form until the minute that I drop them. And I have to manually drop them so if I say they are going to drop at 5pm I have to be by a computer at 5pm furiously pressing the publish button.

After you start selling how much time do you have to dedicate to packaging, postage, and shipping?

At least a day. An entire day with an assistant. You know those bins you have at the US post office?

Yes.

I can fill one of those bins.

It takes a day.

Yes, it does.
