When you get up in the morning and you go through the day as an artist how do you form your day in order to be creative?

First I photograph my work. I like to photograph in the morning because I think in the morning the light is very good for photography. Before breakfast always do photography of my work. If the sun is bright it is very much better for photography. Then I go for breakfast. I don’t do everything. First I make many pots and then I add to them and  after firing I glaze them.

Are you a full-time potter now?

Not really. I am not full time. But every day I do something for pottery. I may photograph them or sell them. You know? I am not always making.

What is your favorite part of pottery of making pots?

Each part has it’s own joy. When I am working with clay the smell of it is very interesting. I like the smell. I like when I touch the clay. I will tell  you a secret. When I was a child, maybe three or four years, I was always playing in the garden. Sometimes I would look around and if there was nobody I eat some clay. (laughter). They say it is because of lack of calcium but I always like the smell of clay. Never would my parents understand when I would eat clay.

Did you always want to be an artist?

Not really. Not really. It’s about twenty years where I like to do art and to be artist. Working with clay is the best part I think. But glazing has it’s own joy and when I add gold it is nice too. And one of the best parts is when you open the door of the kiln because we don’t know what happened to our work. It is really exciting. I like this moment very much.

Do you have children?

Yes, I have two daughters and two grandsons.

Did you teach your children or grandchildren how to do clay?

Yes, I teach my grandsons both with clay.

When you work in the studio do you ever feel lonely?

I work at home. My studio is at home. I feel what? What did you say?

Do you ever feel lonely and isolated?

No. No. Not at all. When I am working I listen to the music. And it is like maybe, painting. I like to be alone when I am working. Actually I like to be alone because I can concentrate on it much better.
