Do you tend to layer your glazes so they become your own?

Yes. I definitely throw a lot of glazes on each piece. and that’s my favorite thing because I do use commercial glazes, I don’t make my own. So my way of being creative with them is definitely how I combine them and using a lot. Like I have problem. (laughter) I have so many glazes. I have a massive addiction. I find they fun part for me is combining different ones and seeing what happens.

What is your favorite tool for making?

I am really, really fond of those little wire loop sgraffito tools. I love doing the underglaze and then doing the sgraffito carving. That’s probably my favorite tool.

Which brand do you use?

I think it’s Kemper.

What camera do you use to take pictures of your work?

I use my iPhone.

As simple as that.

I use my iPhone. I have a really, really good camera but I don’t use it, I use my iPhone because it’s just so much easier. And then it’s all on here and I don’t have to fuss around. I’ve got the iPhone 11 so it has a really pretty good camera on it. Yup, keeping it simple over here.

Do you do any special type of lighting for your work?

I don’t. I use my studio. I turn off all of the lights and I just use the natural light that comes in from the side.

What is your favorite marketing tool for getting your work out to the world?

Instagram. For sure, I mean that’s the only thing that I use. I don’t do any marketing, I just post stuff on Instagram.

Do you use hashtags to reach specific audiences?

Yes, definitely. As many hashtags as you can every time is really important. And just posting consistently is really, really helpful. I only post when I feel like it but that does tend to be quite frequently because I really love the whole Instagram platform and I enjoy it a lot.

What is you favorite family outing?

Well we are big campers. We love camping and I think I mentioned that before, we love going and taking the pop up to the beach. We also travel a lot. Any chance we get and we love going down to Mexico and popping down to Baja. We have a few spots down there that we love to visit. Day outing…probably going to the beach or just going for a hike. Yeah, those would be the top ones.
